The Lewis Plumbing Company is locally owned and operated and has serviced the Rotorua and surrounding areas since 1992. Our years of local experience and the work we have been involved in encompasses all forms of general plumbing maintenance from spouting repairs and replacement, to blocked drains and waste pipe repairs, through to leaking taps, pipe work and fittings.
A good analogy for The Lewis Plumbing Company is if it’s anything to do with water, we can repair, replace, design and install. We have varied and extensive plumbing experience in new domestic dwellings, from low cost housing to high quality homes through to commercial developments from minor alterations to major building developments. If you stand on the roundabout on Tutanekai and Whakaue Street in Rotorua and look at every multi story building over two levels in view, we have either been the main plumbing contractor or undertaken a major portion of the plumbing work on the properties you can see.
All of our plumbing staff hold current licenses from the Plumbers, Gasfitters & Drainlayers Board. We maintain professional affiliations with the Rotorua Chamber of Commerce, Master Plumbers Gasfitters & Drainlayers Association Inc, Rotorua Master Builders Association Inc, Site Safe New Zealand, Water New Zealand and Standards New Zealand.

Meet the team
Qualified certifying plumber. Practicing since February 1991 (all facets of plumbing), licensed backflow prevention tester & surveyor unit standards 2117.4 & 23847.1 & 23848.1. Current IQP backflow prevention registered. Current STMS qualification. Additionally, Jon has recently completed a pipeline and cable locators course through Master Plumbers, Gasfitters & Drainlayers Inc. Past registration for Drainlaying in 2012, Completed courses in working at heights, confined spaces training & site safe.
Jonathan (Jon) and his wife Jan started their first plumbing business “Jon Lewis Plumbing” in 1993. To reflect the different company structure and personnel the company name was changed to “The Lewis Plumbing Company”. In 1993 Jon gained his Craftsman Plumber qualification and in 1996 became a member of the New Zealand Society of Master Plumbers.
Jon has an avid interest in the Backflow Prevention industry and started an additional business in 2005 called Backflow Prevention Ltd. Jon serves on the Backflow Prevention SIG of NZ water as the NZ Master Plumbers Society representative. Jon is a qualified tester and surveyor for cross connection. And has had the privilege of being a course facilitator in backflow prevention for Opus International and for Master Plumbers Society. Jon has written a course for the New Zealand Society of Master plumbers on Backflow Prevention to help plumbers gain there continued professional development requirements by the New Zealand plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers board.
In “July 2010” Jon became the Chairperson for the Rotorua Master Plumbers group and a member of the Auckland Master Plumbers executive, and presently still holds that position.
Jon & Jan have four sons and in addition to Jon’s family, his passion is on and off road motorcycling where Jon participates in off road Motorcycle Enduro racing and helping to run off road events.

Has additional qualification in unit standard 24305, solar hot water systems and completed his registration for Drainlaying in 201. Completed courses in working at heights, confined spaces training.& site safe
Employed by The Lewis Plumbing Company since July 2007, Wayne undertakes water connections to the local council network, has training in unit standard 23848.1 & 23847.1 Backflow Prevention. Has completed his traffic controller course and is has IQP status for backflow prevention (The Lewis Plumbing Company are currently the only council approved plumbing company who can undertake work on the local body water supply network). Additionally, Wayne has completed a pipeline and cable locators course through Master Plumbers, Gasfitters & Drainlayers Inc. and is undertaking training as a level 3 Water Technician. Completed courses in confined spaces training & site safe.
Office Manager employed by The Lewis Plumbing Company since April 1998. Previously manager of Mount Cook Travel in Rotorua. Kay has vast office administration experience spanning 33 years. Kay is proficient in the use of Nimbus software and has a broad skill level in many office management applications. She also has a qualification in Organisation and Management.
Financial Controller and a director of The Lewis Plumbing Company. Jan has 31 years of accounting experience having worked for chartered accountants managing a client base and experience in numerous software applications and diversity of business. Jan has managed all accounting aspects of The Lewis Plumbing Company since its inception.
Matt Vant Leven
Matt has worked for TLPC since 2006, however is currently on an extended leave to pursue his rugby career with the Chiefs.
